I won a regular season WBT Tournament & the 2009 Championship!

Now that I have some exciting news, I need to let everyone know that on September 12th, I won the Women's Bassmaster Tour Old Hickory Lake tournament. I took the lead the 2nd day and held on to win by 6 lbs. 12 ozs. You can read all about it at http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/wbt/news/story?page=b_WBT...

The old Hickory event was the last of the qualifying tournaments for the 2009 WBT Championship. I qualified for the Championship tied for 3rd place with 807 points. In order for me to win Angler of the Year, I would have to win the Championship and maintain the lead each day to earn the most points possible. Also, the 2 women ahead of me in points, would have to finish well below me.

Upon arriving in Shreveport/Bossier City, LA on October 14th for registration. We were informed that the Red River was too dangerous to fish and that a final 4th choice of Cypress Black Bayou Lake in Benton, LA would be the competition site. None of the 20 Pros and 20 Co-Anglers had ever fished this lake before. We all had 1 day of practice before starting our 3 days of competition.

I was blessed and able to accomplish my goal of winning the WBT Championship and maintaining the lead each day, but failed to earn enough points for Angler of the Year. Pam Martin-Wells finished 2nd and won that title and the berth to the Bassmaster Classic. Congrats to Pam. I did my best!
